At OmniSpherica our goal to make 360 content that is more than just being able to visit somewhere you couldn’t otherwise be.
We want to change performance so that is uses what 360 can offer. TV, cinema and stage all create a window with the performance on one side and the audiance looking through it on the other. We want to remove that partition by putting the performance around the spectator. There is no audience so there is no need to provide space for one.
To date, the 360 video of a performance has typically been captured by putting a camera on the front of the stage. The performance itself doesn’t change and if the observer looks around they either see an audience or an empty theatre. We want to create performances that take advantage full advantage of 360. That doesn’t mean something has to be happening in every direction, which is common but confusing. It does however mean a much more personal and intimate experience. With dance we are no longer need to fill a stage but can bring the dancers much closer to the viewer.
Dance isn’t the only genre that this will apply to but is one of the most fruitful.
